Da Gama - The Journey Continues
The name itself will elicit history, voyage and adventure and a restaurant that has got such a name should surely be of the same caliber. Da Gama doesn't let you down, the journey here is magical. Once again, a hidden treasure in the open area of The Century Village. The ambiance is terrific, in interiors are vibrant and their Bar is one that had won many notable awards and nominations. We went there last week and the place was set up with Christmas decorations and winter colors. We loved it from the get go.
There were three of us and we ordered a variety of cocktails and mocktails from the Bar, our top mixologist was kind enough to make a few specialties for us and showed off his skills that included the Flaming Lamborghini, which was an awesome spectacle.
For the starters we ordered the Wasabi Prawns, and man this set the score for us, We loved the wonderful wasabi flavour which was drilling our palates and nostrils, oh wow.. with a sip of a cool beer, this was one fantastic dish, I have never had such a combination. Next we took the Non veg tapas platter, which was good to share with people. Here we got panko fish, wasabi prawns, paprika calamari, chicken skewers and nachos. This was a great platter which gives a wide selection of meat, prepared to various methods. The panko fish was okay for me but the rest of the meat was exceptionally good.
We got the Wagyu mini burgers, which was made by vintage cheddar and tomoato relish, with a decent sized patty of prime wagyu meat. Loved it. One of the main dishes we ordered was the Cataplana Di Marisco and this was amazing. This had prawns, calamari, mussles, sausages cooked with tomato creme sauce. Fresh ingredients and wonderful spices makes this an amazing dish. We all fully enjoyed this. Next we got the Chicken Diane- which was chicken breast grilled and laced with herb mushroom sauce. Delicious.
The Da gama discovery was marinated chicken skewers grilled in peri peri sauce, perfect with a gulf of beer, tasted really good. Overall the food quality, portions and presentation was amazing. We Loved it.
How can you end such a great time without Desserts and for that we got the sizzling brownie, berry cheese cake and vanilla ice creme. The brownie and the cheese cake were the winners for me. This place is magical, the food wonderful and the service, well always it was with a smile. These are great times to sit and enjoy the outdoors. So come on and get on with your Da gama journey and find new food frontiers with your family and friends.
