Lets Go Baba
What an exciting time we had enjoying some authentic Turkish cuisine from a restaurant that has strong roots to its Turkish origin, a restaurant that proudly brandish their culinary prowess, chefs, spices, herb, special ingredients, all from their root nation Turkey.
Iskender Kepab, put Turkey in the food map, now finds its way into your hands by way of Sultan Baba Iskander. Located in the Jumeirah 3 area, you can get in with no much hassle. Ample wide sitting area and a separate area for more closer gathering. Good natural light fills the place in the afternoon, we went inside about twilight and it looked pleasant.
Service was excellent here, Chamail took very good care of us, Mehmet, who manages the restaurant is such a talented, charismatic person. These two guys do a fantastic job here. We started off to cool our self with Pomegranate juice and mango. They were fresh, tasted good. Next time I would ask for a few more ice cubes on it. The gavurdagi salad was excellent, filled with finely chopped tomato, onions, walnut and was topped with olive oil and pomegranate sauce. I have tried similar combination before but for some reason, there was a slight distinction to these. fresh and tasted good. Strongly recommend to try the Ezme, made from roasted bell pepper, onion,crushed tomato, this was slightly spice but the overall taste was really good.
The Turkish Ravioli is a must dish, lovely minced beef stuffed inside the ravioli. This dish really took us by surprise as we didn't expect to see this in Turkish restaurant. The Iskender Kebab is their signature dish. Their loyal customers drive from far and wide to enjoy this beautiful dish, which is thin lamb and beef doner slices, served on grilled pita bread and hot butter sauce. This is one dish that you can say fingers licking good. Highly recommend.
As much as the fine cuisine here the desserts were up to mark as well. We had katmer and baklava with ice creme. Both traditional desserts, excellent taste, a tad bit messy but here, where is the fun if not.
Overall, lovely experience at Sultan Baba, if ever I'm in this area, I am surely visiting this place again. Thank you team at Sultan Baba.
