Get Your Greek On At Zorba
Zorba, means live each day, well that's such a profound word from the leaders of the ancient world. Known for their extra ordinary love and depth for knowledge and the practical applications of wisdom which is so natural, The Greeks defined live in these words.
Here, at the Century Village, Zorba, does that thing, that is Live Each Day and live it well. They serve authentic Grecian cuisine here. Fresh ingredients, top produce made to the traditional cooking techniques. The restaurant is well designed and they have used the blue and while colors in tandem. When you walk into this place, you are taken back in time to a homely Greek restaurant.
For the starters we got the Manouri Salad, which was a beautiful mix of rocket leaves, roma tomatoes, watermelon cut pieces. with grilled manouri cheese with reduced balsamic dressing. Fresh and delicious, this was a pure delight to enjoy. Next we got their Greek dip platter, this for AED 45 was a great deal where you get to enjoy the variety of their famous dips. This had Tzatziki which is a yoghurt, cucumber, garlic and fresh herb mix. Simple but with strong flavours, loved it. Along with this there was Melitzanosalata and Tirokafteri, names might be difficult to pronounce but taking nothing away from the wonderful flavours. We wanted to try their fried calamari, which was nice but the secret here was the chefs sauce, that was a deft touch which made this dish stand out.
For the mains we took the Kontosouvli chicken, which was good sized portion, half a chicken marinated with butter, vinaigrette, salt, pepper and lemon. The dish was well presented but for us we felt it lacked some flavour. The marination was not standing out for us. We got the rib eye steak and let me tell you, this was a fantastic done dish, greek style grilled and that was gorgeous. For AED 99 this was a dish which was full worth the money. Each bite was juicy, you got to try this if you are steak fan.
The end of the evening was topped by the Zorba pie, creme filled inside layers of phylo dough. topped with caster sugar and small slices of watermellon. This was a total surprise as, after having such a heavy dinner, you are resigned to the fact that the dessert would be an after thought. But this was a sure show stopper, we just cleaned the plate in no time. Adding to the fun here, they have a live two piece band , belting out famous greek songs one after the anotherm which was a darling treat to us. The service was good, but I would have liked to have a bit more of a conversation with the staff, to hear the back story and inspiration behind the brand. Overall, it was a good evening, top class Greek cuisine in the heart of Dubai.
