Don Corleone - Still Lives On
Don Corleone is such an iconic cult figure which has captured the hearts of millions, many leave that name untouched in all its awe. Taking that name and creating an interesting restaurant, takes guts and boldness. Come to Metropolitan Hotel on Shk Zayed road and you can peacefully relive those amazing moments and experience at the famed Don Corleone restaurant.
The interiors are homely, gives you a heart warming feel, typical set of Cafes/ restaurants that you would see in the gangster movies. Well there is no violence here, the highest form of violence is your teeth munching the beautiful culinary offering here.
We started off with some mocktails, sunrise and mix berry mojito. Both were refreshing, would have liked less ice on the mix berry, but thats it, loved both the mocktails. Then we got a mix platter for our starters and there it all started, enjoying some amazing goodness. There was Garlic bread with cheese, Carppaccio, Bresola. Calamari fritti, mix of cold cuts. The ingredients were fresh, you can get the natural aroma of the ingredients. The burrata was delicious, with a scoop of that set on the garlic bread and when you take your first bite, many a senses will blow you away. The Calamari was nicely done too.
There have a excellent selection on the menu for the main, you are spoilt for choice from beef, chicken, seafood and some good veg options too. We got the carbonara farfalle, this had ample crispy fried beef bacon, topped with creamy lisison, which is a thick sauce. Even the sauce was a delight, the dish is a winner. The filleto di Manzo was one FANTASTIC dish, I was truly blown away by the taste of this grilled tenderloin, seared with red wine. Solid meat, which I asked for medium well and it came exactly how I wanted. I would highly recommend this to anyone, Top class dish this one.
By now we were really full, but still couldn't give up on the offer to try their Tiramisu. The sweetness was a delight, though there was no rum used on this, each scope was a pure Italian joy. It went well with the Cappuccino that I ordered.
Overall this was a great time spent here. The service was truly special, the team led by Mohammed who runs this show seamlessly with a smile and, Mon for his gentle manner and personalized service were all adding to the great time here. Definitely coming back here for more.
