Let's Go Afters
Well, this is the new Sundae/ Ice creme place in town. Located in the newly built Al Seef area, Afters is slowly catching up with the Dessert loving people of Dubai. A well established UK chain with expansions in the horizon, they moved overseas with their first International venture and that too in the " We Welcome All' city of Dubai. The location is a great spot, the building reminiscence of the old mud houses time past. The internal area is cozy, colorful and vibrant with Pink sofas adding more to the look of a dessert parlour.
Interestingly, they have a few Breakfast options on the menu too, so in case you walk in during the morning hours you will not be dissapointed, but they serve this all day as well, which is an added touch to the menu serving here. Their main stay is the Sundaes, which they are known for, amazing varieties and sweet tasting beauties here. They have Sundaes, Ice creme, Cold stone, Crepe, Waffles, Fresh juices and special items for kids too.
We started with a Waffle sandwich and a Cheese toastie. Both came in good time, loved the presentation and they use recycled material, which goes to show how environmentally responsible they are. The cheese toastie was nice, you can taste the cheese inside and it comes with pickles and sauce. The Waffle was looking good on the plate but the taste was a bit over powering due to the size of the waffle. The filling of ham and cheese was fully drowned in the waffle and I would like to suggest to add a bit more meat inside if now reduce the size of the sandwich.
Next was the big deal, the real reason that we were there to enjoy the 'Afters' specialty. The items on the menu was long hence we took the advice of Julian, who is the manager of this outlet. His passion for the brand and his staff was commendable. So, moving on we ordered the King Ferrero and Exotic explosion.
The King Ferrero was a sweety mix of many wonderful flavours, rocher, chocolate, hazelnut, chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped creme and two pieces of wafers, man this was one huge monster of the Sundae. easily can be shared by two people. I loved it for a few scoops and a few digs after it I couldnt go through. The sweet mix was overpowering, too sweet. Maybe I should have gone for something else, which I surely will do next time.
John Thomas, my friend who is top food blogger in Dubai was my dining companion that day and he picked the Exotic explosion. This was lovely as I dug in with John's permission. A wonderful tropical mix of Coconut, Pineapple and Banana served with mango sauce and topped with sliced pieces of Pineapple. This was less on sugar as my friend said but thoroughly enjoyable. Again a good Sundae to share but if you are having your cheat day then don't share as its sooo good.
Friendly staff and a cozy place to have your After meal digging... You will not be dissapointed. A place for the entire family. Please do go and support these guys and the Brand.
