Hooked on to Seafood Here
Hook & Cook, located in The Sustainable City is truly an hidden gem. Finding this is a revelation, this is one special place for Seafood Lovers. Owned and Operated by a family who's desire is for people to have specialty seafood, using the finest ingredients and special cooking methods and all of this to be in a pocket friendly manner. Many restaurants are expensive with small quantity in serving, if not its reasonably prices but no heart and soul in the dish. One thing you will find here is that top quality seafood, made with love and served with a warm heart, that makes all the difference.
If pictures speaks a thousand words, then have a look at the pics. Not seen such an immaculately designed seafood restaurant in a long while. The color combination, the interior fit outs, the minute details, the wall hangers, pictures are all well planned and designed. This is what happens when one half of the owners are a master architect. The turquoise color painting makes you fee as if your surrounded by a call sea and that you can smell the freshness of the ocean, as such is the mesmerizing of this magical place.
We started the a fresh Mojito, lovely and refreshing and then ordered the Rocca salad. A large dish of natures goodness, that consisted of Tomatoes, walnut, mushroom, strawberry and parmesan in vinaigrette. Full of flavour explosions here, all ingredients comes together to give an amazing taste in each bite. Delicious. Next up we ordered the bang bang, which was an lip smacking prawns starters, crispy battered shrimp dipped in spice sauce. The fish croquet was a perfect bite size balls which comes with a spicy yoghurt dip. The flavours were great in all these dishes, fresh and you really can smell the oceans aroma in these dishes, wonderful use of sauces and dip.
For the main we ordered their signature Black pepper crab, which was blue crab cooked in crushed black pepper. To to honest this was the most amazing black pepper crab that I have eaten. The crab size was large and the flesh was wonderful, I can keep going, but you actually gotta try this. Amazing. We got the Sea bass cubana, another fantastic dish, pan seared fish topped with a mango salsa, which was a masterful way of using the ingredients. The fish was seared with the skin to add a bit of crunch and the meat was so tender and delicious. These guys know how to make a fine seafood dish. Next up was the sharing dish The Seafood Paella, the classic Spanish dish which had clams. prawns, calamari and mussels. This was splendid and I'm not saying it for the use of words, but truly this was a magnificent dish. Good to share by 3 or 4 people this had the perfect touch of an authentic Paella dish. Spicy rice, cooked with the amazing array of seafood, all profusely emitting their own individual flavours. You will really go crazy with just eating this alone. Wonderful.
And now its the real test of any restaurant, the end game. Not many restaurants give much thought to their dessert selection and you will be disappointed if you thing that this is one of them restaurants. For a fantastic seafood standard they have equally good selection of desserts. We picked the double lemon cheese cake, Chocolate Lava cake and Sticky date pudding. They have a penchant for everything it seems, I could not find any fault in this, really. Such was the amazing touch of the chef who made these wonderful desserts. I was blown away by their bold attempt in providing such wonderful desserts.
This is one place you will quickly fall in love with. The service is top class, the staff are very attentive and polite and always ready to help with their suggestions. They have a good knowledge of the dishes. Their love for seafood is every evident and this place is as it knew what you were missing in seafood. They got what you even didnt know you missed. This is one place, you will call your seafood home. I am calling it my Seafood Home.
