Let's Go Gabbar
Taking its name for the Iconic India movie ' Sholay' comes the name Gabbar. The restaurant is cozy, nestled in the Discovery Garden building No 5. This restaurant shares its space with another concept called Lee's Wok, and that too is named after the legendary Kung Fu master Bruce Lee. The restaurant has got cool elements of color, small artifacts that show the early Indian cinema. The colors are vibrant and interesting. Today we are going to try from the man him self " Gabbar".
Started off with the varitey of cool beverage options, so we chose to have Lassi, Jal Jeera and Masala Chhanch. I enjoyed the lassi, it was fresh and my other dining partner loved the Jal jeera. Having that sorted we wen into the starters, which was interesting. They had a mixed platter, one was veg patter and a non veg platter. The mix platter was fine as it had both non veg and veg options. This consisted of Paneer, Sheek kebab and chicken kebab. The paneer was lovely, except the size could have been cut into half, the sheek kebab and the chicken was excellent. Perfect marination has got all the flavours sucked in to the meat and it was perfectly grilled. The portions were good and the tasty overall.
Next up for the mail we got the Chicken tikka masal, mutton saagwala, dhal makhni. The chicken tikka had all the right amount of spices and having that was a delight. I felt the Mutton to be a tad bit hard, maybe it should have been cooked a little bit more. The size could have been a bit smaller, but the curry was nice. Next the all mighty dhal makhini, this was a show stopper. The dhal texture was perfect and thick and this is once dish that you couldn't put it off. We keep digging and diggin with the hot naans. You always remember of the time you had this meal in your home with your folks, such is the power of this dish, connects and refreshes. We loved it. The food quality here is good overall. They use fresh ingredients and cook with passion. Its a simple place but you will enjoy the food here.
For desserts, for which we had some little space in our tummy, we got the Carrot halwa, not a huge fan of this but here I loved it. Perfect texture and not too sweet and you didn't get the carrot smell but you got the taste of carrot. There were 4 of us at the table and each of had a different taste preserences but overall, we loved what was presented here. The place was packed and it was great to see many patrons enjoying their time here. Gabbar is Going Good.
