Estrellas Rooftop Lounge
Melia Hotel roof top is the place where Estrellas' is located. Its a combination of pool, lounge, upper deck and a covered area, all mixed together is the composition of this fine lounge, The view is fantastic and you can see the Dubai skyline afar. Having a purple neon light taking much prominence the area has a right balance of light. Perfect place to hangout and unwind with friends while you enjoy some fine Asian food and their wide selection of wines, spirits and beer and much more.
They have massive projection screens and TV's showing the latest sports, with the current cricket matches going on, this is becoming an highly crowded place during match days. This place easily hold about 200 people. We started the day with some Hoegaarden, a smooth drink and loved it all the way. The starters we got the chicken tikka, which came in skewer with a small charcoal pit on the bottom keeping the food warm, needless to stay, that sitting outside and on the rooftop will make the food go cold, but this small pit kept the Chicken warm. Delicious flavours and spicy, well marinated and the portion was good.
Next we got the Jalapeno poppers and pop it did in our mouth. A good addition to the menu, and man it was spicy, really get our pores opening and we loved it, cooled it with a sip of Hoegarden and that was fantastic. We got the cheesy nachos too, a nicely presented dish with cheese, jalapenos and salsa. Please note this comes super top and wait a while to touch it and enjoy this before it gets cold, so the cheese doesn't get hard. Next we had the mix platter which had Skeeh kebab, Lamb chops and chicken tikka. This was a fantastic dish, we loved the spice levels here and the Lamb chop was too good. It had a fantastic marination and the piece was chunky as usually the chops are a bit held back. But here they have two pieces of fine, succulent chops and you will love it.
While all this we were nibbling on the olives and roasted nuts, which the staff kept on refilling. We got their famous Dhal Makhani and chilli chicken and bread to go with. The Dhal was special, loved the texture and the creaminess and the chilli chicken was a kicker. Loved them both and with the bread dipped with the dhal and a bite of the chilli chicken man, this was top tasting dishes.
The ambiance is nice, good seating area with a DJ cracking up the tempo with hot desi beats the mood was fantastic. Loved everything here, the service was fine. Vardan, was a cheerful guy always with a smile serving us well. Avijit, the big man who runs this place is a pleasing personality and his passion and knowledge of the business in commendable. He too, along with his team made our experience memorable.It was our pleasure to meet the Executive Chef, Praveen Singh, who gladly left his busy kitchen to sit with us and to share the passion and his back stories. We were fascinated hearing his relationship to Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor and his food journey. This made our evening even better. Thank you Chef for your time.
Estrellas' is a place where I would bring my friends for a good time. They are opened till 2 am which is even much better.
