On the South American Culinary Trail
At Highway311, you are sure to get to senses corrected, be it the visual impact for the culinary marvels from this region you are in for a total surprise. The restaurant located in the JLT area, Cluster area promenade had indoor as well as Al Fresco dining, which I guess is not much useful due to summer season. Once you enter your eyes are drawn to the 3 figurines drawn on the wall, larger than life creatures and full of colors, showcasing the vibrancy of the region and time. I am sure you will take as many pictures as you like. Moreover there is a nice balance of wooded color and finishes all over. You take a bit of time getting used to this place and then you sit down to order.
We started with a strawberry Mojito and Pina colada, both were fresh, a proper mix of ingredients fresh. For the main we ordered the Right of wings, which comes in 6 or 8 pcs. We went for the 8 pcs which cost AED 35. What can I say, the wings were decent size, well fried and mix with their special sauce, Mongolian sesame wings, Delicious, thick sauce grabs your fingers, taste so good. Perfectly marinated, excellent for 2 people. Next we ordered the Camaran Huracan, I kid you not this is one of the top prawn dish from a south american cuisine that I have tried. Massive these prawns, cooked with some Peruvian spices and mixes, it was spicy but I'd tell you, if you don't try this, you will REGRET it. Trust me, go for it. Please.
We ordered the Lamb chops and Lomo Saltado. The lamb chop was okay for us, marination was fine and since it was baby lamb chops the meat was not that too hard. This was grilled to perfection. The Lomo Saltado was one fantastic dish, beef tenderloin cubes, cooked in Peruvian/ Chinese fusion, using the finest ingredients and is served in a thick broth and Jasmine rice. This dish is like no other that I have tried in S.A cuisine. The flavours were a great amalgamation of both Chinese and Peruvian influences. The chefs are well trained to get this refined flavours to the customers.
Dessert choices were limited, so we picked the Chocolate cake and the Crema Voltaeda De Quinoa.
The chocolate cake was delicious, guess it was Belgian chocolate that they uses, perfect moist inside. The Creme caramel was the winner for me, it had Quinoa, grounded mixed to the caramel, Loved it. Personally I would have liked it to be a bit hard on top, overall its a top dessert.
Overall, This place is one excellent restaurant if you fancy South American cuisine for a fraction of what others charge, then this is your place. Value for money and top portions great ambiance, well what could you ask for more. Lets go Peru and More !!!
