Status Kitchen

Hiding in Plain Sight

I have been wanting to visit Status Kitchen for a long while and last Saturday I was able to do so. Located adjacent to the Abaya Mall is this simple looking cafe from outside. It had wood themed interiors and got high ceiling, and the minute you step inside, you will be greeted by some happy faces and 80s wall posters and frames, each with an interesting quote or celebrating a time period. You will see the space is well utilized and you will note too that there is hardly a seating area. You would get a small counter top and a steel barrels, transformed into a high seat with a foot rest. I kid you not, that was it, It was quite peculiar but then  I got the drift.

This was a primarily a take away place, either you can call and pick it up your self, if not the delivery guys will do the honours so you can enjoy at the comfort of your home, or even better, you can park your car in front and enjoy the meals in your car. Still if you  wish, you can come in side and sit, if its free and enjoy the ambiance and the small chatter with the staff.

Starters with the  Status Pinacolada, which was really good and the presentation, fantastic. This some in the half cut pineapple hollowed inside, fantastic to hold the pineapple in your hand and enjoy the drink, fresh. Started with the Kunafa shrimp, which is an interesting take, crispy kunafa wrapped the meaty shrimps which comes with a home made sauce. This was perfectly fried, fantastic with the dip, Loved it. The Pink pasta which I was told is a new edition was really good. Cheddar cheese and sliced chicken strips and a think home made sauce made it full of flavours. The portion size was excellent.

Next we moved on to their signature burgers, the VVIP regular, which was 3 sliders in 3 different colors, red, blue and black and man, just looking at those were so interesting. This was beef, prawns and chicken sliders, perfect slider sizes and fantastic. The meat was ample, with freshly cut tomatoes and lettuce, just couldn't put it down. Next was the juicy, lucy, aptly named, and how this is made is creative. Cheddar cheese is covered with the meat patty and grilled, they just gently cut it in the middle to the patty opens up and the cheese oozes out, Yayyyy.... fun and fantastic. I really  loved it. I sincerely loved everything that I tried here.

Next was the tre tro crepe, which was crepe made with love of 3 interesting sauces.  Ample drizzels of Pistachio, Caramel and chocolate, mnn mnn mnn... This was a fantastic way to conclude the fine, rather different dinning out.

The guys here we in good spirits, always with a smile and cheerful, Chef Mark was busy filling in the orders and the rest packing and serving the waiting customers. Kaden was a fine server who looked after us well and I really appreciate his menu suggestions. I wish them all the best and I know for a fact that they will surely move to many locations and expand their business. I wish them well.
