Bombay Urban Cafe

Bombay Boombastic

You definitely have to give credit where and when its due. One such place which realy awed me. was when we visited Bombay Urban Cafe, in Al Barsha, located inside the Rose Park hotel, opposite the Sharaf DG metro station.  You can put your car for valet and then step into the restaurant.  Honestly you will be wowed by the interiors here, cool mix of  wood and green color theme, a touch of blue here and there, cool fixture in the ceiling, rustic look all around. Even the lighting was perfect.

We started with a Bombay blast -which was fresh strawberry, mango, pineapple and coconut mix. fresh flavours, I like the combination here. The next was the pomegranate and lemon mint mix, top mix, loved it too. For starters we ordered vadapav, nachos with chicken tikka, assorted mix grill. The vadapav was well presented and loved the take and twist on this traditional fare. perfect size and tasted well, with the date and tamarind mix chutney. The nachos was excellent with salsa and sour creme, whow... loved it. The mixed grill had chicken tandoori, prawn and bbq lamb. This is highly recommended. Tons of flavours, each different from the other. The chop was well marinated, a tad bit over cooked, non the less the meat was succulent, the chicken tandoori was a winner, so was the prawns, hence I do recommend this.

So far, we have been, thrilled and amazed by the flavour explosions. For the main we were recommended the laal mass, butter chicken and lucknow chicken biriyani. The laal mass was excellent and thankful for the recommendation. This traditional  Rajasthani mutton dish was perfect a tad bit spicy, due to the kashmiri chili they use, which gives a slight pungent after feel on your lower jaw, this was a eye opener for me, as this was the first time I tried this. The butter chicken with garlic naan was fantastic. The Lucknow Biriyani slow cooked, full of flavours and fragrance. The meat was succulent as the spices and marinated have clung to the bones.

For dessert we had Gajar halwa and rasmali, both were good, nothing fancy, but simple but not overly sweet. The overall experience here was fantastic. Loved the vibes here. I had the privilege of meeting the head chef Shrikant. Great to see his passion for food and customer service, remains high, such an interesting personality, The team of servers here made our day, they were spot on and on cue, always with a smile and cheerful, each taking turns in explaining the dishes. Rahul was excellent, his passion is clearly visible and high marks for his professionalism. THE rest of the team members were terrific. I surely will visit them when I am in this area next. Good luck guys.
