Akiba Dori

Tokyo In Dubai

When you step into this restaurant and once the doors close behind you, somehow thru magic you will be transported to the streets on Tokyo. Colorful neon lights, with some less lit areas, simple seating arrangements, black tiled floors, wooden beans that breaks the flow of views, music layered with techo beats, man, you are definitely in a vibrant street in the hustling Tokyo, Named partially from the famed area of Akihabara dori. You will have to get used to the layouts and look of this place, it is definitely a bustling place. We were stoked to be here.

Started our proceedings with Wasabi Magarita, yes. wasabi magarita.. thats all I am saying.. you need to head there to try this one. Next was Crispy shrimp salad, mixed green leaves, asparagus, orange slices with panko fried shrimps. This was a great mix of ingredients, the orange slices were a nice twist. The shrimp were well holed up inside the hard outer layer of panko crusts, perfect and unique mix.  Next we got the wagyu katsu sando, a top grade wagyu beef, coated in panko and fried. The presentation got me here, loved it and the dish was fantastic. the beef quality you will know from your first bite. The fried lotus flower slice was something special. The Chef's team had gone into great lengths to create each to be distinct. Loved it.

Next we had the chicken katsu curry. I have tried several other katsu curry but this was different. The chicken was perfectly fried, perfect crisp and the curry was excellent.  Usually restaurants blend the veggies together, but here they have kept them  veggies in perfect biteable sizes. Top marks here.

Next, we had the Pizza, yeah baby.. not any type of pizza, but this is different, tokyopolitan magic here, led by the top man Chef Luigi. The was an artist, he made us the 5 formaggi, which is  mix of 5 cheeses. fantastic.. This wood oven baked pizza was fantastic as it comes with the acacia honey. Pour it over the steaming pizza and man you got your game going. They make pizzas under 60 secs, and yes were counting. It not heavy, they use the special Japanese Flour and they said, that they have loads of it.

Next was there dessert round and for a place like this you can expect something different. The Taiyaki, a traditional, famous Japanese fish shaped  cake. This comes with various stuffings inside and here they got a few mixes. We chose the Nutella and mozzarella mix, after a few minutes in the waffle maker comes out this beauty. The sweet and sour mix on each bite was lovely. Then we had just a little bit of space to try the  Hakata cheese cake, which I was told was perfectly mastered by Chef Jane, you need to get the perfect balance and it had to stay fluffy. I have not had tasted this before. loved it,, kudos to Chef Jane.
